Prologue
The gun met the ELFs temple, but not a trace of fear could be detected in his expression. In fact, a smile danced across his face as his knee's rested firmly on the platform. The stoney faces of the crowd stared back at him. None had a shred of sympathy for him. The ELF's eyes shone with pride at the destruction he'd caused. If things went according to his plan, it would take them weeks to recover.
"I'll only be back again." he told the crowd in a sing song voice. His green eyes flickered amused. He'd keep coming back, again, and again, and again. There was no escape from this, and every ELF knew this. He failed at being an ELF, but if he'd remembered correctly, the ELVES were the cause of his previous death as well, since he'd failed at that mission too. The others ignored him.
"Perhaps you'll redeem yourself this time. Maybe you and your friends won't screw up again." the executioner said in a dark voice.
"Oh, we probably will." He told them honesty in a tone filled with mockery and amusement.
"Well, lets hope not.... for your sake."
"Or what?" The ELF challenged back. "You'll kill me?.... Again? You can't get rid of me... and I promise to make your life a living Hell weather I'm here or there."
"You won't remember that promise." The executioner reminded him. The safety was removed from the gun and the barrel pressed harder on his temple.
The ELF smiled up at him with an evil glint in his eyes. "I'm going to laugh at your downfall. We're all going to live in Hell the rest our lives!" He laughed.
The chanting began and all the ELVES watched without a trace of concern or sympathy. The gun fired, a sound that seemed to echo in every direction, and the ELF took his final breath before darkness enveloped him and his memories erased. The crowd begun to part as the executioner and assistant took to removing the body.
In a hospital, somewhere far away, the shrieking of a newborn baby could be heard.
